Ruth C. Bahl, age 88, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in rural Lancaster. She was born on February 2, 1935, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Gotzinger) Dressler. Ruth graduated from Lancaster High School in 1953. On July 17, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald J. “Donnie” Bahl at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, they lived in Madison, where Ruth worked for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance. Donnie and Ruth moved back from Madison and together they owned and operated Bahl Farms at Five Points, rural Lancaster. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, a member of Catholic Daughters, and worked in the dining hall for banquets and receptions. Ruth enjoyed playing cards, gambling, traveling, and was known for her cake decorating. She worked at Land’s End, was a volunteer driver for Social Services, and delivered the Shopping News. They loved spending their winters in Weslaco, Texas. Ruth also enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sports and school events. Ruth will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Ron) McKelvey; three sons: Dave (Nancy), Bill (Sharon) and Jeff (Amy) Bahl; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Janice Neift and Sharon Bahl; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Donnie, Ruth was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Andrew Bahl; a sister, Pat (Larry) Blessner; brothers-in-law, Kenneth “Kenny” Bahl and William “Bill” Neift; a nephew, David Neift.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster, with Fr. William Vernon officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Sunday, June 4, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
