Ruth (Pennington) Barger, 63, of Enfield, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 28, 1960, In Flora, Illinois, the daughter of James and Hollis (Fitch) Pennington. Ruth married Dean Barger on July 18, 1978, and he survives. She worked as the Dietary Manager at Enfield Healthcare for close to 25 years. She enjoyed spending time at the River Camp. Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Dean Barger of Enfield, IL, Ruth is survived by her sons, Steven (Cathlene Garrison) Barger of Enfield, IL, and Tony Barger of Carbondale, IL; grandchildren, Steven Crow, Ray Barger, and Kelsi Barger; siblings, Billa Broz of Louisville, IL, James Clifford Pennigton of Enfield, IL, Carolyn Lake of Oakland City, IN. and Ronnie Pennington of Effingham, IL; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, James Pennington, Jewel Rutland, Sandra Hatcher and Ethel Stark; brothers-in-law, Kenny Stark, Richard Broz, and Glenn Hatcher.
Funeral services for Ruth Barger will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield, Illinois, with burial at Enfield Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ruth's memory to Stendeback Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses, and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821. Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield is in charge of arrangements.
