On January 20, while under hospice care at her home in Leesburg, Florida, Ruth Musick Beyers, age 101, drew her last breath as a mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and respected and liked former employee of the Department of Mental Health in Illinois. She was surrounded by her two daughters, Ruth Knecht and Beverly Musick Jehu, and her two sons, Ron Musick and Wayne Musick, a granddaughter, Kara Rubino and her husband, Al, and their daughter, Sophia Erhard. She was born February 15, 1923 in Fairfield, Iowa and died January 20, 2025 in Leesburg, FL.
While her family and friends knew her best as a wife and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she had a long career in Personnel and managing job descriptions for the Department of Mental Health at Lincoln State School in Lincoln, Illinois, and other institutions. She was a lifetime member of First Christian Church in Lincoln, IL, and a member of First Christian Church in Leesburg, FL.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, Stanford and Lila Robertson; her husbands, Charles Jones, Walter Musick, and Ivan Beyers, Jr.; her brother William Maitland Robertson; her son-in-law Dick Jehu; and her grandchildren, Paula Christine Musick and Sarah Gail Knecht.
She is survived by her children Charles Ronald (Sandi) Musick, Beverly Musick Jehu, Ruth Musick (James) Knecht, Walter Wayne (Rebekah) Musick; her stepchildren Roger (Heather) Beyers and Nancy (Rod) Dyer; her grandchildren Charles Ronald (Huanran) Musick, Jr., Samuel Clemens (Nitaya) Knecht, Kara (Al) Rubino, Kelly (Dan Burke) Musick, Nicholas (Liz DeChellis) Becker, Valerie (Travis) Gardner, Stephanie (Dana) Newcomb, Michael (Alyssa) Musick, Courtney (Casey) Koronkowski, Sarah Gibbs, Christopher Gibbs; her great-grandchildren Jade (CJ Stachurski) Kestian, Gabriella (Connor) Beaulieu, Sophia (Janson) Erhard, Alfio Rubino, Jackson Kestian, Jace Berndt, Alice Burke, Bryce Musick, Milo Burke, Xander Becker, Eliana Williams, Alexandra Newcomb, Miles Musick; great-great-grandchild Baby Beaulieu and her nieces Julia Wischan and Kathleen Robertson and her nephew Phillip Robertson.
A special thank you to her attentive and loving caregivers, Betty Sesman, Jeannette Pierre, Bev Diltz, Janice Carter, Chandra Ramcharit, Amber Werlin, and Judy Nemcik, whose care over the last several years enabled her to remain in her own home. They became family.
All are welcome to join the family for visitation beginning at 9:00 AM on February 8th at the Beyers Funeral Home, 1123 Main St., Leesburg, Florida. The funeral will be at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Lone Oak Cemetery, 306 Thomas Ave., Leesburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 1701 Vine St., Leesburg, FL 34748.
