It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth Doreen Boehm, who died on January 5, 2025, at the age of 75, in her home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, surrounded by love and cherished memories. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and generosity touched all who knew her.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Patterson McDonald and John McDonald; her life partner, Frank Pugliano Jr.; her mother-in-law, Mary Pugliano; her father-in-law, Frank Pugliano, Sr.; her beloved daughter, Nicole Pugliano; her brother, Norman "Sonny" Christian; her niece, Stephanie Jenks; and her nephew, Donnie Krepp.
She is survived by her children, Ruth Frisby, John Boehm, and Mary Pugliano, as well as her grandchildren: Brieonna Rumble, Braelynn Dempster, Laila Hatcher, Samantha Boehm, Heather Boehm, Jonathan Boehm, Robert Russell, and Aiden Russell. Ruth shared a special bond with her siblings-Rita Quinn, David McDonald, and Elizabeth "Libby" Livsey-and her extended family, including her son-in-law, Eric Frisby; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Krepp; her brothers-in-law, Robert "Bob" Krepp and Donald "Donnie" Pugliano; and her nieces and nephews: Shawn McDonald, Christina McDonald, Patrick Quinn, Michael Quinn, Patricia Quinn, Barbie Jo Miller, Patrice Singleton, and Loriel Tyler. Although estranged at the time of her passing, Ruth always held a special place in her heart for her dear friend, Howard "Skip" Rickerd.
Ruth's life was defined by her dedication to hard work and her unyielding independence. She worked as a waitress for many years, excelling in hospitality and making people feel welcomed and valued. Later, she transitioned into the hotel industry, where her warmth and professionalism continued to shine. In her later years, Ruth worked at an Amazon warehouse, a role she proudly maintained up until the day before she passed.
Known for her integrity, humility, and tireless work ethic, Ruth embodied values that inspired everyone around her. She was fiercely independent, a testament to her strength and resilience.
Ruth's true passion, however, was cooking. She expressed her love through food, transforming even the simplest meals into memorable experiences for her family and friends. Her kitchen was a place of joy and comfort. Fondly nicknamed "Rummy Mummy" for her love of rum, Ruth's humor and zest for life brought smiles to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Ruth's legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. As we celebrate her life, we honor her unwavering commitment to hard work, her love for her family, and the countless ways she brought light and happiness into our lives. May we continue to carry forward her values, remembering her not only for the meals she prepared but for the love and warmth she poured into them.
Ruth will be deeply missed but fondly remembered. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she gave so freely in life. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY G. STAAB FUNERAL HOME, INC., 900 Chartiers Ave., Pgh., PA 15220.

All of my memories of Ruth are favorites! I worked with her for the past 8 or so years. She was my work grandma. I'd give her a hug everyday and we would pick on each other and laugh a lot while we complained about work. I know I will miss her and never forget Ruthy!!!
