Ruth Caldwell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips Funeral Service Inc. - High Point on Sep. 24, 2022.
Mrs. Ruth Louise Caldwell, 77, made her peaceful transition from earthly life to life everlasting on September 23, 2022, at her home. She was born July 24, 1945, in Darlington, SC, a daughter of the late Rev. Jerome Johnson, Sr., and Irene Cooper Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. George William Caldwell, and her second husband, Mr. Fleek Simmons, Jr.; her five brothers, Jerome Johnson, Jr. (Marie), Nathaniel Johnson (Barbara), Talley Johnson, Edward Johnson (Connie), Booker T. Johnson; and older sister, Mrs. Rosa J. Williams (Levi).
Ruth graduated from William Penn High School, Class of 1964, and continued her education at Guilford Technical Community College. She was employed by W.J. Reeves, Sam's Club, Martin Twin Theater, and retired from Dillard's.
Ruth had a beautiful heart and spirit! She loved her family, friends, and pets, and did anything for her son, granddaughters, and daughters, whom she absolutely adored. Her presence will truly be missed, but not forgotten.
Ruth is survived by one son, Delvin DeVaughn Caldwell of Winston-Salem, NC; three daughters: Rosalin Renee Caldwell, Courtney Michelle (Giovanni) Caldwell-Boyd, Jennifer Nicole Graham; two granddaughters: Jah'mya and Joselyn Boyd; one sister, Irene Patricia (Pastor Calvin) Smith of High Point, NC; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Johnson; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, other relatives and friends.
To extended family and friends (too many to mention by name) share your personal stories to keep alive the memories, values, and connection to your common heritage with Ruth.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
