Ruth Mae Christenson

Ruth Christenson (Finneman) Age 94, of Mpls., passed away on 8/12/25. Preceded in death by husband, Lydon, parents George and Alvina Finneman, brother Harold, and sister Frances. A graduate of St. Olaf College ('52), Ruth taught in the Anoka School District for several years. She lived in New Hope, MN most of her life where she devoted her time to raising her three sons and supporting the family clothing business. In her later years, she resided at Calvary Cooperative in Golden Valley and most recently Pillars of Prospect Park in Minneapolis. Ruth had many interests including choir, opera, politics, travel and life-long learning. She was a long-term member of the League of Women Voters, the America Association of University Women, and Friendship Force. She was known for her friendliness, independence, strength, curiosity, generosity, and love and support of family and friends. Survived by sons James (Anna), Gary (Janet), and Mark (Ginger), grandsons Julian, Vincent and Emmett, niece Diane (Bill), many other relatives and friends. Celebration of life Saturday, September 27th, 11AM at Calvary Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, MN. Visitation one hour prior to service.
