Ruth Rogers Colby

COLBY, Ruth Rogers, 103, Lexington, KY died on March 18, 2023. Daughter of Bernice and Earl B. Rogers, Ruth was born in Nashua, NH on August 16, 1919. She was raised in the mill towns of Pepperell, Mass. and Gilman, Vermont. Ruth began early piano lessons at age nine and was coaching students of her teacher at age thirteen. Following her graduation from Littleton, NH High School, she enrolled at the University of Michigan to pursue piano study. She continued teaching piano students in Littleton for sixty years. She held certifications in state and national professional associations. Upon moving to Lexington, following her husband Jack's retirement as newspaper editor of the Littleton Courier, she enjoyed continuing her avid interest in quilting with several Lexington groups. A member of Tates Creek Presbyterian Church, Ruth served in a variety of roles in her church and Bible studies. She was an amazing woman of God who shared her unending love of God with all those whose lives she touched.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her sister Jean, and her husband of 67 years, John H. (Jack). Survivors include her son, Wesley J. (Gayle) Colby of Hendersonville, N. Car., daughter, Pamela (Michael) Pepper of Lexington; two grandchildren, Meredyth (Timothy) Davis of Lexington, and Robert (Kristin) Pepper of Mechanicsburg, PA; five great-grandsons, Jason Davis, Brian (Emily) Davis, Stephen Davis, Colby Pepper, Micah Pepper, one great granddaughter, Aubrey Pepper and one great-great grandson, Theodore Davis.
Memorial service on 2P.M. Saturday March 25 conducted by Rev. Will Witherington and Rev. Mark Randle of Tates Creek Presbyterian Church, Man-O-War and Rapid Run. Visitation from 12:30 PM until time of service.
