It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth Agnes Cormier, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on January 9, 2026, at the age of 86.
Ruth was born on August 5, 1939, in Welsh, Louisiana. She dedicated her life to her family and her home. As a devoted homemaker, she took great pride in caring for her loved ones and creating a welcoming environment for all who entered. Known for her warm spirit, Ruth cherished visits over cups of coffee, where she shared laughter and stories with everyone who came through her door. For many years, she also worked cleaning homes with meticulous care, leaving behind spotless spaces and satisfied clients.
Known as "Mamie", Ruth's greatest joys came from her children and her large family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Joan (Ernie) Guillory and Julie Myers; her devoted sons, Dan (Marsha) Cormier and Phil (Pam) Cormier; her daughter-in-law Kathy Cormier; sisters, Mabel Fontenot and Lois Phillips. Ruth was a proud grandmother to 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life.
Ruth's family will remember her as a woman who loved fiercely and welcomed everyone with open arms. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on January 10, 2026, at Miguez Funeral Home with a public viewing starting at 8:00 AM, followed by the service at 10:00 AM. Brother Darrell Hieronymus will be officiating the services for Ms. Ruth and her son, Owen Cormier. Cremation will take place following the service under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Owen Cormier; her parents, Edmond Chaisson and Rose Chaisson; siblings, Raymond Chaisson, Willis Chaisson, Joe Chaisson, Paul Chaisson,and John "June" Chaisson; and a great grandchild, Italy Cormier.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to All Saints Hospice for the love and care they have given to Ms. Ruth and your compassion will never be forgotten. Also to Chasity, her granddaughter in law, for your compassion and dedication you gave to Ruth over the years and in her final days.
