Ermie "Ruth" Gentry Crenshaw, 73, of Starr, formerly of Anderson passed away at AnMed Health, September 27, 2023, after a brief illness.
Born January 29, 1950, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Ann Epperson Fowler (Pete) and the late Cullen Franklin Gentry. Ruth retired from AnMed Neurology, formerly Anderson Neurological Association, in 2020 after 32 years of service. In late 2021, she returned to AnMed Neurology and worked until the time of her death.
Ruth had a zest for life; always laughing, active and carefree, like a teenager. She was interested in anything that her family was interested in and was devoted to them and her job.
Ruth leaves behind her children that she adored; Heather Ruthann Martin (Bill) of Anderson, and Donald Wesley "Wes" Crenshaw, Jr. of Bemidji, MN; grandchildren: Arianna Crenshaw, Carter Crenshaw and Brooklynn Crenshaw; and two nieces and two nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Cullen Franklin "Frankie" Gentry, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Sullivan-King Mortuary. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Ruth was passionate about animals, but most especially about her beloved cat, Squeakers, and the many strays that she tended to.
Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to Anderson County PAWS, 1320 Hwy. 29 South, Anderson, SC 29626.
