Ruth Eleanor Struempler was born October 8, 1934 in Buffalo Nebraska, Baptized October 28, 1934 in Evangelica Lutheran Church. Ruth was the 2nd of 3 children of Emil Enrich Struempler (1903-1983) and Alvina Wilhelmina (Jochem) Struempler (1906-2001). The family lived on a farm in "Buffalo Township", now referred to as "Lexington", NE. Ruth and Brother George Mryon Struempler (1932-2005) helped with many chores and "walked" to the one story rural school house. Sister Joyce Lee Faith (Wright) Struempler (1944-2013) joined the family 10 years later. After graduating from Lexington High School in 05/22/1951, Ruth taught rural school for four years (2 near Oconto, NE & 2 near Gothenburg, NE).
She met the love of her life Donald Albert Cyriacks (1928-2009) while teaching in Gothenburg. Their hope was to get married and settle in California. Don and Ruth were married 06/01/1955 at the First Lutheran Church Buffalo, NE. Don had been in the service (Korea), so had traveled some, plus had a favorite cousin in Long Beach which was their destination for their honeymoon. They fell in love with that area residing in various Southern CA homes: Paramount, CA, La Mirada, CA, and Cypress, CA.
Approximately five years after they were married their son, Craig (1959-1993) was born, and two years later daughter Julie (1961) joined them. They lived in Southern CA from 1955 until 1978. Don retired from Jessup Steel, so they decided to move the family north to Oakhurst, CA. They were members of the Oakhurst Lutheran Church, "Ruth was a member for 36 yrs". Ruth enjoyed being a Real-estate Agent for over 20 years. They delighted in their 133 acre land which overlooked five layers of the High Sierra Mountains, it was beautiful. Daughter, Julie married (07/22/1994) Calvin Earl Dooley (1946) and they had two sons; Joseph Alan Dooley (1995) and Brian Thomas Dooley (1998). Grandpa Don and Grandma Ruth were thrilled to have grandchildren, and wished they lived closer to them. They loved to travel with their "cruzin" friends to places like Alaska, Europe, Jamaica, Hawaii etc., and Yosemite National Park was only a one hour drive from their home. They lived in Oakhurst CA from 1978-2014.
After Ruth's broken right shoulder rotor cup surgery/ therapy, Ruth left Oakhurst joining; Julie, Calvin, Joe & Brian in Park Hill, Oklahoma (2015-2020) and Owasso/Collinsville, OK (2020-2024). She liked to play Pinochle, bake, go for walks and put puzzles together. She loved and was devoted to our Lord Jesus Christ all her life. In closing, Ruth loved people; she was filled with sincere love and kindness to all! Her family and friends were "all" very important to her. It was a blessing and an honor as a daughter to have Ruth as my Mother. She was also my best friend, she will be missed. May God grant her peace.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Amey officiating. Interment will be in Oakhurst, CA at a later date.
Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
