Ruth Carol Day

Ruth Carol Day, of Sophia, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024.

Born November 18, 1947, in Slab Fork, WV, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Alma Gillenwater.

She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Pemberton Missionary Baptist Church. Following graduation from Sophia High School she became a full-time homemaker, whose hobbies included painting, ceramics, bowling, reading and music.

Ruth lived a beautiful life. She loved and treasured her family and Sunday dinners. Her granddaughters were her world, holding a special bond with each one.

Those left to cherish her memory are Randall Day, husband of 57 years; daughter, Kelli and husband Pat Estes; son, Michael and wife Miranda; brother, Tommy and wife Pauline; sisters, Janet Hall, Billie Billings; granddaughters, Molly Estes, Morgan, Makenna and Madison Day.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Calfee Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Ford officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time.

Those honored to be her pallbearers include Charles Hall, Scott Billings, Davy Billings, Pat Estes and Tanner Bell.

Ruth would not want us to sorrow at her passing but rejoice at her entrance into eternal life in heaven.  We all look forward to seeing her again in the Kingdon of our Lord Jesus Christ.
