Ruth M. Dineen (nee Cunningham), age 85, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1978, formerly of Brooklyn and Queens Village, NY, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born on December 6, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY.
Beloved wife of Donald P. Dineen, whom she married November 24, 1962, loving mother of Don, Jr. (Sheryl) Dineen, Kathleen (Brian) Hendricks, Christopher Dineen, Michael Dineen, the late Paul Dineen, Richard Dineen, Ellen Dineen and Thomas Dineen, adored grandmother of Meghann, Jack and Erin Hendricks; Anna Dineen, devoted daughter of the late Tim and Jessica (nee Mulligan) Cunningham, dear sister of Casey (the late John) McKenzie, Tom (Kathleen) Cunningham, John Cunningham and Grace (the late Ritchie) Corley, daughter-in-law of the late Ann and Richard Dineen, sister-in-law of late Fr. Richard Dineen and Raymond (Veronica) Dineen, fond cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.
Ruth grew up in Brooklyn, NY, attended St. Paul's Grade School and Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School.
A loving and devoted homemaker, Ruth was employed by the New York Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) which primarily concentrated on Organized Crime. She later worked as a dental assistant to Dr. Donald C. Beard, DDS and Dr. Robert E. Odonnell, DDS, both in Naperville. She was a longtime member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Naperville.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 25, 10:30 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville, IL 60540.
Interment will follow SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
