Juanita Ruth Doffitt was born on March 19, 1943, at Olla, LA to the union of her parents, the late Cicero Franklin and Maggie Doyle Franklin. She passed from this life on January 17, 2026, at her son’s residence in Grayson, following an extended illness.
Simply put, to know Ruth Doffitt was to love her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sidney Ray Doffitt; her best friend, Mrs. Frances Taylor; and nine siblings. She and her husband spent most of their lives in Clarks, LA where she attended Clarks Baptist Church, where she served as Church Secretary and Treasurer. She also served as song leader and through the years filled numerous other positions. Later in life she became a faithful member of Banks Springs Baptist Church where she was faithful in support and attendance until her health became a major issue in her attendance. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life was simply defined by her "Faith beyond Measure." She will be missed by all who knew her but especially by her loving family. Ruth worked eleven years at St. Mary’s Training School in Clarks and twenty-five years at the Columbia Developmental Center. She was loved by all the children not only in these schools but all over Caldwell and La Salle Parishes.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Pam Doffitt (David Williams); her son, Stanley Doffitt; her granddaughter, Layla Jones and husband, Sam; her great-granddaughters, EmmaRae Jones and AvaLee Jones; her brother, Paul Franklin; and her sisters: Dorothy McCartney, Sue Simons and Carolyn Byrd.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Keith Girod, Mark Hogg, Toby Esters, William Adkins, Aubrey Ward and Nick Crain. Honorary pallbearers include David Moreau, Jeffery Aycock, Reggie Aswell, Matt May, Bobbie Lee West , Jamie Stapleton, Glenn Belk, Bo Crain and Steve May.
The Doffitt Family would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to Ellora Hospice for all the love and compassion and other acts of kindness bestowed on our sweet mother during her final days.
The Family would like to request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Riser & Son Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses. A link to donate can be found below.
