Ruth Fleming Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Findlay C Wylie Funeral Home on Feb. 15, 2026.
Ruth R. (Rankin) Fleming

Suddenly, on February 7, 2026 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, our dear Ruthie passed from this world to eternal life. Born on November 13, 1942, Ruth was the only child of John Clyde and Jessie Ruth Rankin. Ruth grew up in Wilkinsburg and graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1960.

On August 13, 1966, Ruth married the love of her life, Larry H. Fleming. Together they enjoyed over 50 years of marital bliss. Though they had no children, Ruth and Larry were the proud parents of several delightfully pampered beagles. Over the decades, the Flemings were active with the Syria Shriners in local chapters and held many important offices and positions. It brought them both much purpose and a sense of mission. Also, Ruth had a fulfilling and dedicated career with Mellon Bank.

Ruth was a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth and Daughters of the Nile. She and Larry also were members of the Shriner RV Club and had many wonderful times with friends traveling to Florida as snowbirds until Larry's passing in 2016.

Ruth enjoyed activities including the Sew-n-Sews, enjoyed gardening, shopping and watching her beloved Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. There were few fans that could equal her loyalty to her Pittsburgh teams.

She is survived by her cousins including Anne Evans, Glenn (Cathy) DeStefano, James (Jessica) DeStefano, Janet DeStefano and their families. Over the years, Ruth had countless dear friends through the Shrine and affiliated organizations. Mark Lupinacci and LuAnne Urmson provided companionship and kindness these past several years as well. Ruth's family is grateful for their reliable support.

Funeral Arrangements by the Findlay C. Wylie Funeral Home Inc. have been held privately. Any contributions in Ruthie's memory should be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital Erie 1645 W. Eighth Street Erie, PA 16505 shrinerchildrens.org.
