Ruth M. Fuller, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by her family during her final moments.

She was born in Washington County, VA, to the late Walker Michell and Emma Thomas Mitchell on November 20, 1939. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Abingdon, VA. She enjoyed reading her Bible, tending to her garden and beautiful flowers, and fishing, but above all, she loved spending time with family and friends, and her faithful pet of 13 years, Romeo.

She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to  her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Earnest "Preston" Fuller and brother Roy David Mitchell.

Ruth is survived by her children, Ruth Ann Gasaway (Dave), Kathy Stanley (Harold), Linda Stroup, Gloria Watson (Scott), Ernie Fuller (Kathy), Wayne Fuller, and Bill Fuller. Ruth also leaves behind her fifteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Mildred Widener, and many nieces and nephews.

As we say goodbye to Ruth Monica Fuller, let us find solace in the knowledge that she got her wish, "To go home to be with Jesus and Preston."

Ruth's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ballad Hospice, the staff of JMH, and the staff of Abingdon Health & Rehab on Martha's Ridge unit, for the wonderful care they provided.

The legacy of Ruth will be celebrated at Central Baptist Church on July 14, 2023, visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a memorial service beginning at 7:00 PM with Pastor Les Ketron officiating. The church is located at 24461 Mock Knob Road, Abingdon, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: The Barns at Blue Mountain, which provides services to children, veterans and at-risk teens, located at 17507 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210 or access them at http://www.barnsatbluemountain.org/donate.
