Ruth J. Gauer, 85, passed away July 9, 2012.
She was born March 6, 1927 in Stow, Ohio to Cyril & Virginia (Hartlevin) Bauer and graduated from Springfield High School in 1946. Ruth married Paul Gauer in Lakemore, Ohio on September 11, 1948. In 1949, Paul and Ruth started Gauer Service and Supply Company, a lawn mower and small engine repair shop. They expanded and ventured into the construction equipment sales and rental business and became known as Gauer Rental.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Paul J. Gauer in September 2011; brothers, Cyril Bauer, Richard Bauer; and sisters, Margaret Laston and Evelyn Jo Bauer. Ruth is survived by sons, James E. (Mardi)Gauer, John P. (Kathy) Gauer; and daughter, Mary A. Hosafros; four grandchildren, James M. and Kristina A. Gauer, Nicole R. and Nathan W. Hosafros all of Akron; sister, Dorothy Marie Heasley of Cameron, NC.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 2:30 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. Burial at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Ruth’s name to Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Road, Akron, Ohio 44312.
