Ruth Alice Glace

Ruth was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and wonderful caregivers at home late Sunday evening September 29, 2024.
Ruth was born in Northampton, Pennsylvania on November 24, 1927, to Blanche and John Schall. She loved music growing up and learned to play several instruments. After high school she went on to study nursing and earned her RN diploma. She met her future husband William (Bill) Glace during those years and they were married in Northampton in 1949. When Bill graduated college, he accepted a teaching job cross country and they embarked to Albany, Oregon where they settled for the rest of their lives. After a few years Ruth retired from nursing and took pride in homemaking as a devoted wife to Bill and mother to their daughter Alice. She enjoyed gardening, cooking up new recipes and sharing time with family. After retirement she and Bill enjoyed traveling together and exploring new places around the country. Ruth was a lifelong Lutheran and a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Albany. Her faith was something she lived every day and was an inspiration to all around her. Her belief in the promise of the Lord proved to be her strength throughout her life especially as she faced health challenges in her later years. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2018.
She is survived by her daughter Alice Scofield (Dennis) of Salem, granddaughters Lauren Crum (Rob) and Karina Scofield and two great-grandchildren Allison and James Crum. She will be cherished forever and deeply missed. Her family will be forever grateful to the kindness, devotion and support of her wonderful caregivers at Waverly Place and Evergreen Hospice who filled her final days with comfort and peace. Ruth will be placed at rest next to her beloved husband Bill at Willamette Memorial Park in Albany followed by a celebration of her life at Faith Lutheran Church in Albany on October 4 at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers family encourages honoring Ruth by donation in her memory to Faith Lutheran Church in Albany or the American Red Cross
