Robert T. Glace lovingly known as "Bobby" to his family, and also "Rob" to many friends passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026 at Bryn Mawr Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby was born in South Philadelphia (Grays Ferry) and raised in Southwest
Philadelphia, PA at 73rd and Buist Avenue. He was the second of six children and the beloved son of the late William L. "Bill" and Dolores G. "Lorrie" Glace (née McGinnis).
In his youth Bobby was a cub scout and a paperboy for the Philadelphia Inquirer and was cherished by the neighborhood for his rain or shine delivery for many years and grew to devour news and develop an exceptional memory for detail and became a phenomenal conversationalist.
He lived to play sports, especially football, and was a standout athlete. He loved playing street ball and was also a cornerback for West Catholic Boy's High School football team and nicknamed "The Master of Disaster" for his hard hitting and proudly pronounced "All-Catholic" during his senior year. Bobby graduated from West Catholic in 1974 and put himself through college while working and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1978 from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science.
Bobby worked in the banking industry at Philadelphia National Bank (PNB), Industrial Valley Bank (IVB), and Horizon Bank as Operations Manager and Assistant Vice President. At semi-retirement Bobby continued to stay active and enjoyed working for the Upper Merion School District as a school bus driver, and also as a private chauffeur, and then manager for Neighbor Care Assisted Living, and ultimately as Concierge at Beaumont Retirement Community until 2019 when he suffered a debilitating stroke. In every role he held Bobby made a lasting impact on his colleagues and on those he served through his kindness, reliability, and genuine care for others.
Bobby had a joy of living and believed in both working hard and enjoying life fully. He loved traveling for work or play and especially enjoyed his visits to Hawaii, California, Florida and Ireland. He was also a major Daryl Hall and John Oates fan and loved attending their concerts whenever and wherever they were in the area. When he wasn't on the job or traveling he could often be found sharing a drink and a good conversation with friends, or singing and dancing to his favorite music at Coaches Sports Bar & Grille... his own personal "Cheers" where everyone "knew his name" and loved him.
Bobby will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved daughter and the joy of his life Natalie, and his former wife and friend Dianne Susi, and also his cherished siblings affectionately known as "The Gang": William "Bill" Glace (former wife Cindy), Mary DiBounaventura (Ray "Debo"), Joseph "Joe" Glace (Donna), Sally Huggins (Bob), and Lori O'Brien (the late Jack O'Brien). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews: Lindsay, Jillian, Joey Brieanna, Andrew, Jennifer, Jake, Luke, and Johnny. Bobby was also predeceased by his niece Lori-Anne Milliken, his brother-in-law Jack O'Brien, and his best friend since childhood, Patrick "Pat" Huhn.
Bobby had many dear friends especially Steve Flohr who was devoted and steadfast throughout the past six trying years, and also Marty Quinn who saved his life when he fell at home and suffered the stroke.
The Glace Family also extends heartfelt gratitude to all his caregivers at Wesley Enhanced Living in Media, PA for the compassionate care they provided to him there, and to all of the family and friends who visited and remembered him with cards and gifts throughout the years especially Denise McNally, Joe Mazzone, Dan Harrell and Bob Wagner.
Bobby fought a good fight and has earned his rest and he will be greatly missed, and his legacy will live on through all those he loved and through those who love him.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Friday, February 6, 2026 9:30am Our Lady of Peace Church, 208 Milmont Ave. Milmont Park, PA 19033, and to his Funeral Mass Friday 11am in the Church. Int. SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
