RUTH DEBORAH GOLDFIELD (nee Bachove)
Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 19, 2023 in Philadelphia, PA. She was nearly 96.
Ruth is survived by her children Ceil Dobkin (Dr. Eric Dobkin) and Andy Goldfield; five grandchildren, Michael Dobkin (Dr. Meghan Berkenstock), Emily Hope Dobkin (Will Hunter), David Dobkin (Dr. Shoshi Dobkin), Sarah Goldfield, and Rebecca Goldfield; six great-grandchildren, Isabella, Daniel, Julianna and Martin Dobkin; Zev Hunter and Morty Dobkin. She is also survived by a wide circle of nieces, nephews and cousins who affectionately called her “Aunt Rikki,” as well as an abundance of dear friends whose lives she touched deeply. Ruth is predeceased by her beloved siblings, Irving and Selma.
Ahead of her time, Ruth was a remarkable woman who embraced a multifaceted career and was devoted to upholding her independence. A proud Center City resident for more than 50 years, Ruth’s active spirit knew no bounds. An ardent lover of the arts, she reveled in attending local plays, performances, cinema screenings and concerts. Her social life was a mosaic of shared stories over happy hours, lunch dates, dinner outings and numerous joyous family occasions. Well into her nineties, she took various enriching classes at Temple University, graciously ushered at Walnut Street Theatre, and passionately pursued a range of interests. Ruth’s vivacity illuminated even the smallest moments, leaving a lasting impression on anyone who had the privilege to share in her company.
Relatives and friends are invited to graveside services on Monday, August 21st, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Roosevelt Memorial Park. Shiva to follow at the home of Ceil and Dr.Eric Dobkin Monday and Tuesday. Shiva on Wednesday will be at her late residence.

Ruth was my frequent dinner partner and long-time faithful member of the Fountain View flower arranging group. We will all miss her--and not forget her love of anything colored red. With deep sympathy but good memories,

Ruth was an amazing person and mother in law. She was so animated and full of life and love for others. She loved her grandchildren (including my two) with such ferocity and tenderness. She taught me so much about being a sophisticated independent woman. I will miss her terribly. What a woman! Danielle Algazi
