Hale, Ruth Law age 97, of Oak Ridge, TN passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Canterfield of Oak Ridge.
She was born in West Virginia. She worked for the FBI and Congressman, A.L. Miller of Nebraska in Washington, DC before attending college in Roanoke, VA. She was employed by the Veterans Administration in Roanoke, VA, Yale and Towne in Salem, VA, and Acme Visible Records in Crozet, VA, before moving to Oak Ridge, TN, and being employed by the Department of Energy, retiring in October 1984 with 37 years of government service. In March 1985, she was employed by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, retiring in 1998. She was also an 18-year volunteer for the IRS in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).
Mrs. Hale was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James E. Hale, Jr., and by her parents Mack L. Law and Ruby Belle Law; two brothers, W. Aubrey Law and Laddie L. Law.
She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Jackie Law of Bristol TN; Joyce Hale of Salem, VA; Dolly Hale McGrady and husband Ira of Elk Creek, VA; nephew Leon Law and wife Debbie of Pembroke VA; nieces, Susan Law Clark and husband Mark of Roanoke, VA; Jane Olcmen and husband Semih of Tuscaloosa, AL; three great-nephews, Daren Law and wife Vanessa, Kevin Law and wife Renee, and Kurt Olcmen; one great niece, Aylara Olcmen; one great-great nephew Matthew Law; and three great-great nieces Kailyn, Raegan, and Hailey Law. Mrs. Hale was a member of the Cashmere Baptist Church before moving her membership in 1955 to Grace Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN where she taught Sunday school for 15 years. She also served as a member and president of several civic organizations.
