Ruth Faye Hand

Ruth passed away on January 28, 2025, at the Milwaukee Catholic Home at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by Will, her loving husband of 25 years. Ruth leaves behind her daughters Laura (Jon) Leach and Lee (Tom) Spolar, and her grandchildren Calvin, Beatrix, Brodie and Sylvie.
Ruth was born on September 9th, 1936, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, where she grew up on a farm with her nine siblings. Ruth moved to the Milwaukee area, where she married, worked various jobs, and raised her twin daughters. She spent much of her life in Wisconsin before marrying Will and moving to Florida. There, she graciously hosted many family vacations for her children and grand­children, creating life-long memories and endless servings of delicious food. Following Will's death, she moved back to Wisconsin to be close to her daughters and their families.
Ruth cherished her pets through the years and was an amazing cook and baker. There are many favorite recipes, but her date nut bread is legendary, and her carrot cake has been said to ruin all other carrot cakes.
Ruth will be laid to rest with Will at the Florida National Veterans Cemetery within the Withlacoochee State Forest, following a private family service.
