Ruth Ann Popplewell Hightower
Ruth was born October 16, 1942 in Sherman, TX to Jim Lee and Elizabeth Popplewell. She graduated in 1961 from Colbert High School in Colbert, Oklahoma and Draughon's Business College, Dallas, in 1961. She married Gaylon Hightower November 10, 1961.
She worked for the City of Sherman, the Grayson Governmental Data Center, and Fairview Baptist Church. She was a member of West Sherman Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Gaylon, children Curtis Hightower, wife Judy, of Sherman, and Cindy Hightower Pointer, husband Darryl, of Sherman. Her grandchildren Alison Jackson, husband Randy, William Beene, wife Kacie, Mallory Morrison, husband Christian, Christina Boynton, husband Dyllon, and Andrew Hightower, wife Sarah and Jessica Pointer. She loved her great grandchildren and lovingly referred to them as the "naughty nine". DJ, Knox, Eli, Leila, Levi, Kyra, Charlie, Nolan, and Daniel who kept her busy with sports and activities. "I love you, a bushel and a peck" resonates throughout her family as she would sing it lovingly to us all. She loved to spend her time with her family and singing with the church choirs.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jim Popplewell, mother, Elizabeth Dixon Popplewell McMillan, stepfather Alva McMillan along with brother Frederick Popplewell, sister Shirley McWhorter, and half-brothers Jim and Vic Popplewell. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff members of Brookdale Sherman and Hospice Plus for their gentle, loving care.
