Ruth Evelyn Hobbs

Ruth Evelyn Hobbs, 97, of Emmitsburg, MD, passed away on December 21, 2025. Born July 6, 1928, in Maryland, she was the daughter, one of 11 children, of the late Edward John and Ruth Marie (Riffle) Smith. Ruth was the devoted wife of the late Francis Vincent Hobbs, Sr.

Ruth worked as a Housekeeper at St. Joseph's Ministries, and at McDonald's, where she was often found chit chatting with her church friends. She really enjoyed her strict routine of getting her nails and hair done every 2 weeks, loved going shopping, and going to the Amish Market on Fridays when Frank was still alive. Her favorite place was Ocean City, MD.

Ruth is survived by daughter, MaryEllen Hess; great-granddaughters, Alissa Wise (Hanvey) and husband Trevor, and Kailey Hanvey; and great-great-granddaughter, Layla Wise.

Ruth is predeceased by son, Francis “Frank” Vincent Hobbs Jr.; granddaughter, Kimberly Marie Hobbs; and great-great grandsons, Trevor Matthew Wise, Jr., and Vincent Graham Gaver.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 210 West Main Street, Emmitsburg, MD 21727, with a funeral service starting at 7pm.
