Ruth Elaine Jones, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 83 at Miller's Merry Manor in Mooresville, Indiana. Born on November 16, 1941, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, Ruth was a woman whose life was a testimony to the love she had for her family, the joy she found in her many interests, and the steadfastness of her Mormon faith.
Ruth was a devoted homemaker, a role she cherished and through which she shaped a warm and welcoming home. Her love knew no bounds, encompassing her beloved husband, Orville Jones, who predeceased her in 2007, and her children, Jeanie Dailey of Greenwood, the late Theresa Dailey, Edward Dailey (Jennifer) of Camby, and Ronald Eugene Dailey (Debra) of Danville. Ruth's legacy extended through her loving brothers, Jack McMillian of Green Bay, WI, and the late Jerry and Tom McMillian. Her grandchildren-Jerrica Dickens, Nathan Dailey, Jennifer Gibbs, the late Gregory Mobbs, Richard Dailey, Ryan Dailey, and Mike Justice-were the joy of her later years, and she took immense pleasure in the lives of her many great-grandchildren.
Ruth's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Indianapolis for many years but had been attending church with friends in Plainfield as of late. She lived her beliefs through her actions and words, embodying the virtues of love and kindness in every interaction.
A woman of many passions, Ruth had a particular love for genealogy, which allowed her to connect with her roots and leave a legacy of family history for future generations. Her love for jewelry was multifaceted; she not only enjoyed wearing it but also took pleasure in making and repairing beautiful pieces. Ruth saw the beauty in the natural world, a passion reflected in her love for rocks and gemstones, treasures from the earth that she collected with care and admiration.
Ruth's zest for life extended to her enjoyment of shopping, where she delighted in discovering good deals and sharing her finds with loved ones. She found relaxation in swimming and lounging by the pool, embracing the serenity of the water. Her competitive spirit and love for family shone through during games of puzzles and cards, which she enjoyed immensely with her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, at 1PM at Singleton and St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 7602 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11AM until the time of service. Burial and graveside committal service will be held on Friday morning, July 11 at 9:30AM at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Greenwood.
