Ruth D. Jones, 97, Denver, Colorado, formerly of Leavenworth, Kansas, died Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at The Denver Hospice.

She leaves behind her daughter, Melissa Jones, and son-in-law, Scott Bates, Denver, and her sister Janet (Fevurly) Weld of Gilbert, Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Emery Jones, her parents and brother, Bob Fevurly.

Ruth was born in Easton, Kansas, the daughter of Earl and Nellie Fevurly on December 11, 1927. She moved to Leavenworth where she graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1945. She then attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1949. She met her husband, Emery, in 1950 and they were married June 17th, 1951, at the First Baptist Church in Leavenworth. She was employed at Fort Leavenworth in the Finance Department for thirty years and retired on July 27, 1985.

Ruth was a renowned cook and baker, and her birthday cakes were requested by many in Kansas and Colorado. She enjoyed watching Jayhawk Basketball and the Chiefs. Ruth was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church until she and Emery moved to Denver, Colorado in 2005. Upon moving to Denver, she worked part-time in the business office at Family Medicine at Lowry and Insight Primary Care until she retired again at age 88.

A memorial service and interment of her ashes in the Columbarium at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Leavenworth will be held on October 18th at 11:00 am. Memorials may be sent to Harvesters Community Food Network: https://secure.harvesters.org/site/Donation2?df_id=2800&2800.donation=form1
