Ruth Ann Keith, 81, of Akron, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 3, 2025. Ruth was born in Seville, Ohio on December 9, 1943. Through family friends, Ruth met her future husband, Harry Keith. they married on November 15, 1963 and their family grew to include a daughter, Lisa.
Throughout her life, Ruth was employed at several places, including the BMV, Twin Value, and Acme Click's.
Ruth was always on the go. She cared for all her grandchildren and great-nephews while their parents worked and she kept them busy catching crawdads in the creek and playing baseball in the backyard. As the grandkids grew, she became their biggest cheerleader at their sporting events. She was also an avid fan of all the Cleveland sports teams.
Other interests included puzzles, sewing, tending plants, yard sales, and making blankets. Everyone in the family and many friends have tie blankets lovingly made by Ruth.
Ruth's legacy to her family is her silly sense of humor. She loved to laugh and never took anything too seriously. Even as her family is grappling with this loss, they are still smiling and laughing at their countless memories of Ruth.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Keith; parents, Eugene and Mildred Cash; siblings, Betty (Gene) Charles, Vern Smith,
Bob (Donna) Smith, and Sam Smith; and nephew, Michael Charles.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Lisa Keith (Brent Gill); grandchildren, Andrew (Amy) Knicely and Jessica Knicely (Cody) Rickels; great-granddaughter, Tatum Knicely; nieces and nephews, Gene (Laura) Charles, David Charles, and Kim (Randy) Hyrne; and many other loved ones including Shane Knicely and Sharon Turner. Ruth's family wishes to thank her caregiver, Kelsey for all her loving care and support and a special thank you to the staff in the Summa ICU.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, immediately followed by a 1:00 pm funeral service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
