When Ruth and her husband moved to the area, they immediately joined the Davidson United Methodist Church where they have been members for 25 years. Ruth made many wonderful friends in the Life Applications Sunday School Class. Ruth was also a member of a group of Christian ladies called the Trust Circle. They adored her as she did them. They are working with Reverend Jim Humphries and Reverend Kevin Turner in creating the program for her church service as well as the reception in the fellowship hall afterwards.

Ruth was proceeded in death by her wonderful mother Evelyn Nordin as well as her father Roy Nordin. Ruth took great care of her parents, moving them to North Carolina to be close to her to care for them in the last years of their lives.
Ruth obtained her Master's Degree in social work from the University of South Carolina and was a marital and family therapist. She worked at Family Services, a United Way agency for many years and then she built her private practice by simple word of mouth. Ruth and her sister Carolyn were very close and since they were both therapist they could support each other in the issues that often arose.
Ruth's son Brett remembers how wonderful it was to call his mom and hear say "Hey Brett" because she was always so happy to talk to him. He says she raised him with "all-encompassing love and acceptance". Ruth adored her grandson Cameron. He remembers that when he was 4 years old, he told her of a fun song he liked and she sang it with him every time she saw him for years.
