Ruth Olga Kyriakis – a child of the Depression who always felt nothing should be wasted. This included life with lots of music, dancing, and creating good memories. I remember how we would clean the house to blaring Big Band music which made vacuuming a whole lot easier and more fun. Born in February 1931, leaving us October 2022, at the age of 91.
My Mom definitely loved having a good time with family and friends. Mom spent 54 years with husband, Nick Kyriakis, who passed away in 2019. 2 children, Sal Canjura Jr, who passed in 2004, and Sally Canjura, daughters-in-law Maria and Lisa, grandchildren Lisa, Sal III, and Nick, 6 great-grandchildren, Katlin, Nicholas, Taylor, Luciana, Matthew, and Brian.
Mom had a very generous heart giving to many organizations but hated receiving their junk mail. Her favorite was St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, helping kids fight cancer. She loved shopping and having new things but had great pleasure in giving her things away.
After the death of my spouse, we got to know each other better and became much closer. We traveled to my music conferences, visiting Orlando, Houston, and Chicago. For vacations, we went to Reno, Las Vegas and Hawaii.
She will be reunited with Nick on Wednesday, October 19, at the Greek Orthodox Memorial Park, 1148 El Camino Real, Colma, at 12 noon. There will be prayers in the chapel then gravesite service. Plans for lunch are being finalized.
My traveling companion, my friend, and my Mom will be very missed.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. My sister Diana and I spent an afternoon at their home a few months before Nick passed. She was such a kind and sweet woman.
