Ruth A. (Matukaitis) Lawrence, 82, of Mashpee, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Born February 22, 1943, in Worcester, MA, the daughter of Wallace and Anne (Kunsaitis) Matukaitis.

She was a graduate of Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. Ruth worked 28 years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health as a Health Care Facility Inspector, retiring in 2003.

Ruth was a member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, an active member of Christ the King Parish and a member of the Harvard Medical School Nurses' Health Study for over 50 years.

She enjoyed life and sharing it with her daughters, grandchildren, family, and many friends. She enjoyed traveling, going to casinos, beaches, cruising, playing card games and puzzles. She lived life to its fullest and loved to share daily belly laughs.

Devoted mother of Andrea Arruda and her husband Joseph of Osterville, Judith Killeen and her husband George of Mashpee, and Janet Gladu and her husband Leo of Ocala, FL. Adored grandmother of Kristina, Jennifer, and Matthew. Dear sister-in-law of Paula Matukaitis, loving aunt of her four nephews and all her treasured family and friends. Ruth was predeceased by her brother Robert Matukaitis.

Visitation will be held at St. Jude's Chapel, (Christ the King Parish) 5 Job's Fishing Road, Mashpee from 10AM-10:30AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may to be made to the American Heart Association heart.org, the American Lung Association lung.org, or the Alzheimer's Association alz.org.
