Ruth Lehman Obituary

Ruth Arlene Lehman

April 21, 1933 - April 13, 2025

Ruth Lehman of Albany Oregon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away on April 13, 2025. She will be fondly remembered by her love of life and adventuresome spirit.

She was born in Thurman, Colorado, on April 21, 1933, to Glen and Tillie Kuhns, the third youngest of seven children. The family moved to Oregon when Ruth was thirteen. She graduated from Albany Union High School in 1951 and married Leaford Lehman on June 12, 1955.

Ruth was very active in the Albany community. She obtained her realtor's license in 1979 and was a real estate broker for Coldwell Banker Valley Brokers for many years. In 1989, she was awarded "Realtor of the Year" by the Willamette Association of Realtors. Lee built and Ruth sold many homes in the Albany area and was active in the Chamber of Commerce and many local and state organizations before retiring in 2015. She was a member of Albany Mennonite Church where she served on many committees over the years.

Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. Her motto to live by was "Make Life an Adventure." She was always up for a trip to the coast, camping, or any type of family outing. She loved to travel and explore new places. The family took many trips within the US and abroad. A trip to France to visit her foreign exchange son, Yves, and to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, with Albany PeaceKeepers were highlights.

Ruth is survived by her children Janet (Damon) Yoder of Illinois, Richard (Twila) Lehman of Albany, and Jodene (Ken) Harnish of Pennsylvania; Siblings Louise Claassen of Albany, and Jim Kuhns of Clatskanie; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leaford, her siblings Mildred, Thelma, Nadine, Harvey and Donna, and an infant daughter, Cynthia Lou.

Donations may be made in Ruth's Honor to Albany Mennonite Church or Samaritan Evergreen Hospice Foundation. A family graveside service will be held for Ruth at a later date.
