Ruth Ann Lioi (née Theisen), 90, of
Avon Lake, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025. She was born on June 14, 1935, to Arthur and Gertrude Theisen (née DeChant).
Ruth was raised on the family farm in Avon Lake, a home that has sheltered six generations, beginning as a log cabin built in 1851. She carried forward that legacy of family and community throughout her life.
On September 4, 1954, Ruth married the love of her life, Dino Lioi of Cleveland, at St. Joseph's Church in Avon Lake. Together they shared more than 62 years of love, laughter, and devotion until Dino's passing in 2017. They were blessed with three children. Ruth dedicated 37 years of her life to dentistry, first as a dental assistant and later as an office manager. Beyond her career, she enjoyed knitting, crochet, and most especially cooking. Family and friends will fondly remember the warmth of her table, where no one ever left hungry.
Proud of her heritage, Ruth treasured being a descendant of the early German settlers of Avon and Avon Lake. She became the keeper of family and community stories, passing down history and traditions from generations before her.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Susan Kahder (Asem) of Cleveland; her son Dean (Chari) of Custer, Washington; her grandchildren Kris, Tia, Deana, and Adam; her step-grandchildren Brandon and Nathan; and her great-grandchildren Peyton and Thea. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Dino, her son David, and granddaughter Angela.
Ruth's family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of O'Neill HealthCare in Bay Village, our cousin Edmund Schuster, her niece Jean Morgano, as well as dear friends Stephen and Nora Jones and family, for their love and support during her final days.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Busch Funeral Home in Avon Lake, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church, Avon Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's name to the
