Ruth E. Long

Ruth Evelyn Long (Johnson) of Malden, passed away unexpectedly on November 27th at the age of 92. She was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur and Marian (Fogg) Johnson and beloved wife of the late William Long. Devoted mother of Richard Long and his wife Joyce of North Reading, William Long Jr. of Loudon, NH, Kristine deFaria of Malden and Deirdre Long of Malden. Proud grandmother of Richard, Thomas, Jennifer, Jessica, Victoria and Zachary and great grandmother to Brianna, Tia, Kaitlyn, Alyssa and Noah. Loving sister of Dorothy D'Alessandro of Center Ossipee, NH. She was preceded in death by her sisters Florence Iosua, Naomi Teixeira, Marian Delarue and brothers Arthur "Dewey" Johnson and David Johnson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was born in East Boston, after getting married settled in Malden where they raised their children. Most of her life was spent caring for her family but she worked for a short time as a home health aide until she retired. She was a collector of dolls, liked to crochet and sew. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word searches and listening to music and talk radio. She loved the feeling of the warm sun shining in on her as she sat in her chair reading. Most of all, Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family. She was always in the kitchen cooking or baking some delicious homemade desserts because she loved her sweets. Many fond memories took place around the table. Ruth always had a story to tell and when anyone visited she couldn't wait to fire up the coffee pot, offer you something to eat and engage in conversation. Her life was centered around family and adored her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

To honor Ruth's wishes, private graveside services will be held at Forest Dale Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, a donation may be made in Ruth's name to Charley's Strays in Clinton, ME.
