Ruth D. (Werblin) Lonstein, 'affectionately known as Ma', age 98, died peacefully on May 14, 2023, at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester. Born in Worcester, Ruth was the daughter of Abraham and Eva (Kulin) Werblin and was a lifelong resident.
After graduating from Classical High School, Ruth pursued technical training and worked for many years as a Laboratory Technician in the blood bank at Worcester City Hospital. Ruth's passions in life were cooking, dancing, mahjong, and most importantly her family.
Ruth will be lovingly missed and remembered by her sons, Jay Lonstein and his wife, Nadine of Worcester, Kenneth Lonstein and his wife, Wendy of Boylston and Dr. Mark Lonstein of Sarasota, FL; her six grandchildren Tracy, Randy (Alison) and Bryan (Sarah) Lonstein, Nolan and Henry Lonstein and Jordan Lonstein; and her three great-grandchildren Avery, Chase and Cole Lonstein. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Barnett Lonstein in 2012.
Family and friends will gather for a Graveside Funeral Service at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 19 at Worcester Hebrew Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Auburn. Memorial Observance will be announced.
The Lonstein family also wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to all the professionals on the 3rd floor of the Jewish Healthcare Center of Worcester for their compassion and care.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 (www.jhccenter.org).
