Sara Ruth McCoy, a beloved member of the Commerce, Georgia community, passed away on January 18, 2025, at Northeast Georgia Hospital in Gainesville, Georgia. Born on May 3, 1931, in Commerce, she devoted many years of her life to her career at Peerless Laundry, where she was known for her hard work and dedication.
Sara was admired for her loving and friendly personality that touched the lives of all who knew her. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, leaving behind her son David McCoy and his wife Patricia, along with eight grandchildren who were a significant source of joy and pride in her life.
Sara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred McCoy, and her parents, J.W. and Lessie Martin Richey, all of whom played an integral role in shaping the wonderful woman she became.
A funeral service will be held in her honor on January 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home, located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, GA 30529. The service will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together to celebrate her remarkable life and the lasting impact she had on those around her. Burial will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery.
Sara Ruth McCoy will be profoundly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
