Ruth A. McQuaide

1937 - 2025

Ruth Anne Schwer McQuaide, 88, formerly of Lawrenceville, West View, and Hampton, passed away on Aug. 30, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh on March 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late John William Schwer Sr. and Catherine Evans Schwer. She is survived by her beloved children, William (Carolyn) McQuaide, Gregory (Jenifer) McQuaide, Maureen (Bill) Miller, and Eileen (Paul) Curry; son-in-law, David Breneman; sister-in-law, Kate Schwer; dear grandchildren, Andrew (Kate) and Doug Brenneman, Sean McQuaide (Christie Crum), Lauren (Tony) Wojtowicz, Adam, Sam, and Caitlyn McQuaide, Thomas Dean, Tara, Kayla, and Kelsey McQuaide, Emily and Kate (Sean) Slagel, Will, Henry, and Jack Miller, and Ryan, Elissa, Matt (Jane), and Nicole Curry; and precious great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Brenneman, Kaia Curry, Olivia McQuaide, and Georgia Scobee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, the late William Robert McQuaide; daughter, Colleen Brenneman; and siblings, Jack (Kate) and Robert (Mary) Schwer. Ruth was a gifted artist, painter, and seamstress. She was the president of the Christian Mothers of Saint Athanasius and was on the recreation board of West View Borough, as well as a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Women's Auxiliary. She also greatly enjoyed golf and bowling. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 3, 2025, at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, 15007. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, in St. Catherine of Sweden Church, Sts. Martha and Mary Parish. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.
