Ruth M. Mieras

Ruth Mariam Mieras, age 87, of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Ruth was born and raised in Port Huron, Michigan. She moved to Ann Arbor in 1955 to attend the University of Michigan Nursing program, where she met her husband Larry.
For 25 summers Ruth and Larry explored the Canadian North Channel of Lake Huron by boat. They treasured introducing each grandchild to this pristine natural area. Ruth enjoyed making this time joyful and was always prepared with "happy hour" snacks, breakfast on the rocks, games, and literature.
Ruth and Larry attended Ann Arbor Christian Reformed Church since 1962. Ruth spent her time, care, and creativity volunteering with the church's educational, international, and special need ministries. Ruth also gifted her time at Glacier Hills, Arbor Hospice, and quilting for Safe House through Ann Arbor Quilters Guild.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Manville and Ethel Pettengill, and her sister and brother-in-law, Jane and John Hofstra.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years; her children, Cindy (Bill) Pressprich, Herb Mieras, and Susan Mieras; her nine grandchildren, Sarah (David) Gryniewicz, Ann (Matthew) Currie, Sr. Laura Pressprich, Mark (Colleen) Pressprich, Carl (Paxton) Pressprich, Robert (Isabelle) Pressprich, John Pressprich, Katie, and Abby; 15 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, and friends.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Ann Arbor Christian Reformed Church, 1717 Broadway Street, Ann Arbor at 11:00 am. Friends and family are welcome to gather at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park Cemetery of Ann Arbor.
