Obituary published on Legacy.com by Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home - Iron Mountain on Feb. 10, 2024.
Ruth Ann (Wicke) Mondloch peacefully departed this world on February 7th, 2024, succumbing to the battle with breast cancer that she faced with grace and courage. She now joins her beloved husband, Howard John Mondloch, who passed away on December 28, 2018. Ruth was also preceded in death by her loving parents, John and Evelyn Wicke, and her brothers Kenneth Wicke, John Wicke, and Norman Wicke.
Born into this world on August 22, 1940, Ruth began her journey through life in St Cloud Minnesota. She graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1957. When Howard saw Ruth across the room for the first time, he told his buddy "That is the girl I am going to marry". Ruth and Howard were united in holy matrimony on August 27, 1960, and their union was blessed with 13 children. Though they had initially planned for a family of 12, fate smiled upon them with the gift of twin boys. Ruth was not only a devoted wife but a loving and nurturing mother who poured her heart into raising a close-knit and vibrant family.
Her children include Michael Mondloch, Carolyn (Frank) Stevens, Elizabeth (Chris) Lashier, Peter (Cora) Mondloch, John (Jenny) Mondloch, Suzanne (Dan) Wofford, Stephen (Angie) Mondloch, Sarah (Aaron) Cain, Timothy (Alisha) Mondloch, Catherine (Dave) Lennon, Teresa (Parker) Dodson, David Mondloch, and Daniel (Desiree) Mondloch and honorary daughter Sara (Duane) Schneider.
Ruth's love extended beyond her immediate family to include 29 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and counting. Throughout Ruth's life there have been numerous others who have considered themselves a part of her family, each of whom she cherished deeply. Her home was always filled with warmth and laughter, creating lasting memories for the generations she leaves behind.
A devout Catholic of unwavering faith, Ruth found solace in her spiritual journey and shared that conviction with those around her. Her kindness, resilience, and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a homemaker for most of her life but also assisted Howard with the grade school Catholic religious education program, RCIA and Pre-Cana classes. She loved sitting by the river reading and feeding her deer who would come to the window asking for food. She also treasured her many trips with her family. These included
Phoenix, Florida, Washington, Medjugorje, Ireland and Guatemala.
Ruth Ann Mondloch's legacy is not only reflected in the family tree she helped cultivate but in the countless lives she touched with her compassion and generosity. As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, let us celebrate the love and joy she brought into our lives, knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities, and her daughter's foundation, Kalamazoo Housing Advocates, https://kalamazoohousingadvocates.org/ in Ruth's honor.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
