Ruth Ann Morehead, 86 of Belpre, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Arbors Care Facility in Marietta on November 4, 2025. She was born July 13, 1939 in Sandyville, WV, daughter of the late Levi and Manila Holbert.
She graduated from Belpre High School in 1956, before marrying Robert (Bob) Morehead on July 19, 1956. They were married 57 years before his passing in 2013. She was a homemaker and spent many hours volunteering at Belpre City Schools. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, playing bingo, gardening, and chatting with the neighbors on the porch. She was a member of Rockland Church and enjoyed singing gospel music.
She is survived by her son, Tim (Terry) Morehead of Mineral Wells, daughters, Katrina (Steve Ward) Ware of Parkersburg, and Regina Scarborough of Houston; grandchildren, Dustin Morehead, Michael (Brittany) Ware, Jason (Mercedes) Ware, Kayla (Matt) Emerick, Glenn Scarborough, John Scarborough, Ashley (Mitch Zubieta) Nguyen and Rachel Nguyen; great grandchildren, Carter and Lyla Ware, Laurel and Cameron Ware and Hudson Emerick; siblings, Bobby Holbert of Vienna, Doris Brady of Belpre and Dean (Jewel) Holbert of Belpre; brother-in-law, Ed (Jan) Morehead of Georgia and sisters-in-law, Linda (Clarence) Gant of Elizabeth, WV and Peggy (Steve) Clifford of Belpre.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob Morehead; sons-in-law, Sam Ware and Tom Scarborough; six brothers, Kenneth, Jim, Don, Darrell, Melvin and Paul Holbert; one sister, Faye Clark; one sister-in-law, Viola Alt; and four brothers-in-law, Bill, Charlie, Don, and Mack Morehead.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to the second-floor staff of Arbors at Marietta and to Amedisys Hospice for their outstanding compassion, support and care.
Visitation will be held at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, South Parkersburg on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 11 am to 1pm. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Mark Zimmer officiating. Burial to follow at Rockland Cemetery in Belpre.
