Obituary of Ruth E. Oliver
Ruth E. Oliver (nee Brown), age 73 of Pennsauken, passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey on April 23, 2024. She was born in Camden on March 27, 1951 to the late Thomas and Margaret (nee Bridge) Brown.
She is the beloved wife of Ronald Oliver; devoted mother of Ada Felix, Tiffany Oliver, Justin Oliver and Austin Oliver (Fatima); loving grandmother of Jasmine Ramos, Edwin Ramos, Benjamin Ramos, Jahlilah Ramos, Zuri Oliver, Austin Oliver Jr. and Zahra Oliver; dear sister of the Honorable Thomas A. Brown, Jr. and the late Margaret Benson and Herman Goldy Jr.; cherished godmother of Shayla Tate and Alex Kidd. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Prior to her retirement, Ruth worked as a corrections officer at Riverfront State Prison until their closing and then at Mid-State Prison for over 25 years, She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, going out to eat with family and friends, and helping out anyone in need, especially the elderly. She was extremely dedicated to her church, Macedonia Temple Baptist Church on Chapel Avenue in Cherry Hill, and the missionary work that she did for the church.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Friday, May 3 from 9 to 11 AM at the First Nazarene Baptist Church, 1500 South 8th Street in Camden, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
