Ruth Maylaine Pleshek, 80, passed away peacefully on August 28th, 2023 at Peabody Manor in
Appleton, WI. Ruth was born on June 12th, 1943 to Edwin and Eva Fehrman in
Tomahawk, WI.
On March 9th, 1957 Ruth was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a member of the South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in
Appleton, WI.
Ruth married the love of her life James Pleshek Sr. on September 14th, 1963 and went on to have 3 sons: James, Paul and Nathan.
Ruth worked with her husband James at Pioneer Professional Carpet Care, a business that they owned and operated together for over 30 years.
Ruth is survived by James, her husband of nearly 60 years; her son James (Marcia) Pleshek, her son Paul (Cyndi) Pleshek, and her son Nathan (Donna) Pleshek. Ruth is survived by 7 grandchildren: Brandon (Samantha) Pleshek, Brittany (Spencer) Schroeder, Madeleine Pleshek, Ty, Addison, Bristol and Ryker Pleshek. Ruth is also survived by 5 Great Grandchildren: Stella, Elliana, Elias, Ethan and Emery. Ruth is survived by her older brother Edwin (Juanita) Fehrman and her younger brother Larry Ferhman and many dear nieces and nephews.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Eva Fehrman, her older brother Phillip Fehrman, her older sisters Gloria (Bill) Hamblin and Carol (Eugene) Vallafskey. Also, her Sister-In-Law Gloria (Wife of Larry) Ferhman and her niece Shelly and nephew Brian.
Growing up on a farm as a little girl Ruth had many fond memories of taking care of the animals and playing with her siblings and nieces.
Ruth loved working with numbers and accounting. She started her work career at Moe Northern Electric. She also enjoyed caring for customers which served her well in the family business, Pioneer Professional Carpet Care. Everyone 'loved' Ruth and her kind, cheery voice on the phone; they always knew Ruth would take good care of them.
While Ruth loved being at home, she would always enjoy heading to Florida to get away from the cold Wisconsin winters. She loved going to Disney World and over the years accumulated quite a collection of Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse and Star Wars collectibles.
As Ruth was raising her children, her home was a place of fun and family gathering. Not only was she a caring and loving mother, she was also the 'honorary' mother of many in the neighborhood and in her congregation.
One of Ruth's greatest joys was being Grandma. As she had Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren she loved 'spoiling' each child in the way that only 'Grandma Ruth' could do. From her special oatmeal pancakes, lasagna and meatloaf, to her iconic plastic Tupperware 'sugar' dispenser, there was always more than enough 'comfort food' that no one ever left her home hungry.
Ruth loved taking care of others. In addition to always caring for her family, in later years, Ruth then became the 'honorary' Grandmother to many young ones in the congregation.
Ruth was the true description of a selfless, caring, patient, funny, loveable, positive and courageous person. But most importantly, she will always be remembered for her deep devotion and loyalty to Jehovah God.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Ruth had a very strong faith in the Bible's promise for the future. She took great comfort knowing that soon all the sadness, suffering and anger we see today will be gone and the entire earth will be transformed into a happy and beautiful paradise. (Psalm 37: 11, 29) Ruth would take every opportunity to share her hope with others. Even during the difficult last few months of her life she always remained positive and optimistic about the future. This never went unnoticed by the Medical Staff that took such good care of her. Especially meaningful to Ruth is the sure hope found in the Bible at Revelation 21: 3, 4 where God promises that "death will be no more."
As a family, we were truly blessed to have her in our lives and we look forward to hugging her again just around the corner!
The family would like to thank the Staff at Peabody Manor and the ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center-Appleton for the wonderful care Ruth received in the final months of her life.
Special thanks and gratitude to the South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Appleton for their generous love and support during this difficult time.
