Ruth REYNEN Obituary
Ruth Reynen, 82, of Spokane Valley, was born on April 18, 1942, and passed away on November 10, 2024. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Heather, and is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Heidi (Ryan); and granddaughters, Liliana and Emilia.
Ruth was a fierce advocate for women's sports in Spokane. Her coaching career spanned four decades, touching the lives of teenage women from junior high to Gonzaga women's basketball in the 1970s. Ruth's other passions included showing horses, gardening, baking, camping, and most importantly, her family and faith. She lived out her faith every day, attending church, BSF, small group, and church choir. Ruth strengthened the faith of her family through her love, warm hugs, life lessons, and listening ear. She touched many lives with her zeal and will be truly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N. Raymond Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206 on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spokane Valley United Methodist Church.

I am so sorry to hear of Ruth's passing. I had the pleasure of playing for Coach Reynen at Gonzaga for three seasons. Her faith in me made me a better player. It's amazing what someone believing in you can do. Thank you Ruth.

I am honored to have known Ruth in Elementary and Junior High. She was a wonderful role model in softball and helped raise me - welcoming me into their family. I loved my childhood at their house, playing with Heather and Heidi, taking care of barn cats....getting ringworm....hanging out in the pool....avoiding John because he got sprayed by a skunk again! And then Ruth, making the best fruit crepes in the world. What a wonderful family Ruth shared with us all. She will be missed and I'm praying for all of you! I love you John and Heidi!

John and Heidi-I am so sorry to hear this! Ruth was such a great advocate and role model. I know Shelbi has many wonderful memories of spending time with all of you. We can only hope that we leave our mark with the people we meet like Ruth did.
