Mrs. Ruth Mae Mock Shavis, lovingly known as "Sis" to those closest to her, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025. A devoted daughter, sister, auntie, cousin and friend will be missed by all who crossed her path.

Born on July 18, 1938 in Thomasville, North Carolina to the late Nathaniel and Bertha Mae Mock. Sis was a lifelong resident and touched countless lives through her cooking. Cooking was Sis way of expressing her love. You will never leave her house without something to eat!

Sis received her formal education with the Davidson County school system. Upon completion she joined Carolina Underwear as a seamstress with over 30 years of service. Then she retuned back to work as a nursing assistant within Davidson County.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward Shavis, four sisters, Helen Walls, Margaret Joines, Bertha Burnside and Flossie Izzard; three brothers, Allen Mock, Willie Mock and Charles Mock.

She leaves to cherished her memories to her sister, Sue Mock of Oroville, CA; brother-in-law, William Izzard of Thomasville, NC, two special nieces, Mary Ann Tate and Helen Mock, close friends: Ann Leak, Ruby Osia, Marsha Kennedy and Melissa Jones and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and fiends.

Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on,

and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone.

Those we love can never be more than a thought apart,

far as long as there is memory, they'll live on in the heart.
