SARASOTA, FL – Ruth G. (Levy) Shulan, age 97, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, in the loving presence of her sons.
Born in Worcester, Ruth was the daughter of Louis and Sarah (Baehr) Levy. After graduating from Classical High School and nursing school, she worked as a nurse and laboratory technician before marrying Gerald M. Shulan in 1948. They raised their sons in Worcester, MA, eventually moving to Lenox, MA. They also maintained a winter residence in Sarasota before moving there permanently.
Ruth will be lovingly missed and remembered by her son Michael and his wife Moira Hodgson of New York, NY, and her son Bruce and his fiancée, Nancy Sirianni of Bayville, NY; by her former daughter-in-law Gale Shulan; her cherished grandchildren Alexander, Rebecca, Emily and her husband Harlan, and Molly; and by her brother Milton Baehr and his wife, Jan. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald in 2006.
Family and friends will gather to honor Ruth's memory at a Graveside Funeral Service at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3rd at Holy Society Cemetery, Havana Road, Leicester. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ruth would always make me laugh and smile. she was such a joy, a beautiful, wonderful soul it was my honor meeting her and driving her to her appointments she is gonna be deeply missed RIP my dear Ms. Shulan
