Ruth Ann Simpson (Gorman)

Age 71

Haverhill, MA

Died Sunday October 19, 2025 due to long illness.

Ruth was born January 27th 1954 in Boston, MA to William and Barbara Gorman (Tracy) of Boston , MA. She was raised in Dorchester, MA until the age of 10 when her family moved to Tewksbury, MA.

She was raised with her many brothers and sisters and was very close to all of them.

She graduated Tewksbury Memorial High Class of 1973 and then worked at Diamond Crystal in Wilmington, MA. From there she worked at Avnent in Peabody, MA where she met the love of her life Frederick Simpson, of Salem, MA. They married on St. Patricks Day 1985 and enjoyed 10 wonderful years of love and family life in Salem, MA. before he unexpectidly passed August 10th 1996. She then worked at Porter International in Beverly and then Rowley while raising her three children. She was a above and beyond caring and loving mother, making sure her children had everything they needed and never went without. She raised them surrounded by love and wasn't just a mother to her children but to her many nieces and nephews and even friends of her children. Anyone that needed a place to hang out, a place to stay or even just someone to talk to because they didn't know how to talk to their own parents, she was there. Affectionally, she was called 'mom' by many of her children's friends because of the love and support she showed them.

She enjoyed crocheting, a skill she learned from her mother and then passed onto her daughter and would make many afghan blankets as gifts. She also enjoyed many other arts and crafts such as ceramics and embroidery and would even make her children's Halloween costumes. She enjoyed cooking and baking most of all and certainly no one left her house starving and more then likely left with leftovers. She won awards for her chili which she spent years perfecting and loved hosting holidays such as Thanksgiving and Easter. She was a member of the North Shore Music Theater and would take her family to see the musicals there every season, her favorite musical being The Phantom of the Opera. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family. Fourth of July BBQ's, vacations to Hampton Beach, Christmas parties, Birthdays which she would always celebrate with her sisters.

She is survived by her three children, son Jared Simpson of Lynn, MA. Son Patrick Simpson of Salem, MA. And daughter Heather Gravel and her husband Joshua Gravel of Salem, MA. She is also survived by the true lights of her life, her grandaughter Alexandra Gravel and grandson Nicholas Gravel. She is also survived by her brother Frank Gorman of Seminole, FL. Alyce Windish of St. Petersburg FL, Michael Gorman of Tewksbury. Bill and his wife Betty of Pascagoula, MS. Sister in law Shirley Gorman of Lowell Ma, Sister in law Debbie Bean of Lowell, MA. Sister in law Millie Mandeville of Salem, MA. Patricia Gorman of Billerica, MA. Caroline and her husband Frederick Hill of Tewksbury, MA and Catherine Leger and her husband Gary of Lowell, MA. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Frederick Simpson. Her brothers Joseph Bean of Newport Ritchie, FL and Richard Bean of Lowell, MA. And her neice Krystal Raposo of Tewksbury, MA.
