Ruth E Talkington

1947 - 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth E. Talkington, 79, of Scipio, Indiana, who left us on March 27, 2026. Ruth was born on January 21, 1947, in Decatur County. After graduating from Columbus High School in 1965, where she was a member of the bowling team, she made a loving home for her family as a dedicated homemaker. Ruth had a brief stint working at Onkyo in Columbus before she wholeheartedly devoted her life to her family and adventures.

Ruth had a knack for making friends wherever she went and cherished many connections throughout the United States. She enjoyed painting and camping with Misty, moments she treasured deeply.

Ruth is survived by her son, Jon Michael Talkington, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Talkington; brothers, Vernon "Bud" Dinn, and David Ronald Dinn and his wife Lynn; grandchildren, Alex and his wife Daphne Talkington, Mindy and her husband Wyatt Sidwell, Jacob Talkington, Sydney and her husband Nick Seavers, Jon Michael Talkington II, and Emily Talkington; great grandchildren, Rose Marie and Lukas Sidwell; many cousins from the Dinn family who will carry her memory forward.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Ruth's life. There will be a public visitation at Bethel Baptist Church on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. Rev. Ricky Persons will officiate. Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Ruth's warmth, humor, and vibrant spirit will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Tish Garrison Dinn; husband, Ronald Talkington; sons, Mark Allan Talkington, and Matthew Wayne Talkington.
