Ruthie was born in Wilmington, Delaware on July 28, 1965, the youngest of four children of the late Harry and Ruth Hackendorn. She married her sweetheart, Mark C. Vannicola, in 1984, and together they had two children, Kimberly Bastek (Carl) and Mark Vannicola, Jr. (Amanda). Ruthie was the proudest Mom-Mom to her grandchildren, Dillan, McKenzie, Giovanni, Vincent and Violet. Her three siblings, Gordon, Rebecca and Deborah also survive her. She loved her family more than anything else in the world – they were everything to her.
Ruthie was full of light and love, spreading joy to everyone who knew her. The void left by her passing will never be filled.
Please join us in the celebration of her life on Friday, March 24 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek. Visitation will be held from 12:30 - 1:30PM, with a Catholic funeral service immediately following. Interment will be held privately.
