Ruth Vienneau Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. - Rochester on Jan. 8, 2026.
Ruth Vienneau, 91, of Rochester, New York, passed away at Saint John's Nursing Home, surrounded by her family, on 7 January 2026.

Born to Harold and Dorothy Nortz, she grew up in Lewis County, New York, as an only child as her twin brother died at birth. After becoming a dietician she moved to Rochester, New York where she met her husband who also was born and raised in Lewis County. Her interest in food showed in the variety of dishes she cooked for her family. Her love to cook for her family made the holidays special as each had favorites to look forward to, such as pecan pie, waldorf salad, and a peanut cake that spanned four generations as it was a favorite of her father and her grandson Michael who she made extra for. Ruth re-entered the work force when the youngest of her children were at the pre-teen age. She worked over 15 years in the Rush – Henrietta School District Food Service with most of this time at Sperry High School to become known as the French Fry Lady. Ruth enjoyed needle work, bowling, and card games (member of a Cribbage Club) as well as partaking in other activities at the Senior Center in Henrietta and at the Addison at Erie Station where she lived a portion of her retirement years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Louis, her son Kenneth, and her grandchild William. She is survived by her children Ronald (Lauren), Robert, twins Carol and Jean (James) Day, and her grandchildren Michael Vienneau, Katherine Vinneau, twins Benjamin and Jonathan Day, William Day, and Amanda Day

Funeral mass will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 10 AM at St. Marianne Cope Parish at Guardian Angels Church. Interment will follow at Ascension Garden Cemetery.
