GIBSONBURG -- Ruth Helen Walters, age 93, of Gibsonburg, OH passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Wood Haven Healthcare in Bowling Green. She was born on May 17, 1932, in Bowling Green, OH to Ernest J. and Bessie May (Bowles) Cross. She went onto graduate from Bowling Green High School in 1950. On October 10, 1953, Ruth married Robert W. Walters at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pemberville. Ruth and Robert raised 3 children and celebrated nearly 40 years of marriage together, until Robert's passing in April of 1993.
Ruth, worked as a Bank Teller prior to marriage for then the Bank of Wood County later to become Huntington Bank. She later after marriage worked as a homemaker taking care of her children, home and a husband. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Four Seasons Garden Club in Pemberville. She also enjoyed flower arranging for family and friends, flower gardening, decorating for Christmas, baking, and her feline pets. With so many joys it was spending time with her family especially her grand and great-grandchildren that remained her favorite joy of all.
Ruth is survived by her children: Christine (Robert) Latusek of MN, Rick (Cyndi) Walters of Bradner, and son-in-law, Michael O'Brien of Pemberville. Grandchildren: Matthew Walters, Stephanie (Tracy) Owens, Todd (Fiancée Becky) Walters, James (Tracey) O'Brien, Kathleen (Mike) Clink, great-grandchildren: Hannah, Gavin, Kinsley Owens, Jack and Anna O'Brien, sister-in-law, Maxine Cross and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Robert, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Karen O'Brien, brothers: Harold (Freda) Cross, Denzel Cross, and brother and sister-in-law, Ronald (Lois Ebka) Walters.
Family and friends will be received 4-7 p.m., on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 220 Cedar Street, Pemberville. There will be additional visitation from 10 a.m., until the time of service. Officiating will be Pastor Timothy Philabaum. Interment will be in Pemberville Union Cemetery, Pemberville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to: Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
