Ruth C. White

Ruth C. White, 87, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Ruth was born on May 29, 1938, in Effingham County, IL, the daughter of William and Mamie (Knierim) Ohnesorge. She married Max C. White on September 1, 1957.

Ruth was a very active member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham heading and organizing the funeral dinners, singing in the church choir, and delivering Meals on Wheels.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Max White; sons, Jeff (wife, Sharon) White and Greg (wife, Martha) White; granddaughters, Britney (husband, Kyle) Helmuth, Kathryn White, and Savannah White; grandson, Zachary White; 2 great-grandchildren, Walter and Ellanore Helmuth; sister, Sandra (husband, John) LeCrone; and brother, Roger (wife, Nancy) Ohnesorge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eileen Wente and Marilyn "Ione" Beals; and brothers, Roland, Gene, and George.
