Marquerita Ruth Lewis was born on February 17th, 1946 in Eolia Missouri. She was the fifth of five children to Thomas Jefferson Lewis and Georgia Lee Sailes.
At 16, Ruth moved to Minnesota where she professed faith in God as a young woman. She was baptized at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Ruth was an active and dedicated member of Mount Olivet's Senior Choir and Missionary Society. she served faithfully and remained committed to her faith until her passing.
On July 3rd, 1962, Ruth married James Earl Wilson. Ruth and her beloved husband James Earl were married 30 years until his death in 1992. Together, Ruth and James Earl were blessed with five children; Charles Eugenen, James Earl Jr., Jeffrey Tyrone, Cynthia Renee, and Catina Ann Wilson.
Ruth was briefly employed at Gould National Battery before embarking on a new career as a teacher's Assistant with Saint Paul Public Schools, where she found her true calling in education. Ruth loved working closely with young scholars from diverse backgrounds. She worked closely with the English Language Learner Program, teaching many Hmong children English and Sign Language. As time passed, Ruth learned to speak Hmong moderately and found it easier to engage and teach the children by interacting with them in their native language. After retiring from Saint Paul Public Schools, Ruth cherished spending time with family and friends, often traveling to create lasting memories. One of her favorite gathering spots was her front porch, where loved ones would come together to socialize and enjoy each other's company.
Mrs. Ruth Wilson departed this life on January 17th, 2025. She leaves to cherish her memory three devoted sons; charles (Beverly) Wilson of Phoenix, Arizona, James Jr. (Chinda) Wilson, and Jeffrey Wilson of Saint Paul, Minnesota; two loving daughters; Cynthia Coulter of Waldorf, Maryland, and Catina Wilson of Saint Paul, Minnesota.
She is also survived by her sister; Lillian york of Raleigh, North Carolina; three sisters-in-law; Willarene beasley, Jackie (Percy) Hughes, and Ruth Wilson of Saint Paul, Minnesota; along with a host of cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends, as well as many other relatives and friends.
A funeral to honor Ruth M. Wilson's life will be held at 11AM (viewing), and 12PM (service). Homegoing celebration will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 451 Central Ave. W. Saint Paul, MN 55103.
